Lirik “After laughter comes tears” tuh nunjukin kalau sering kali kita harus nyembunyiin perasaan asli kita demi nyenengin orang lain 😔.

Di bagian pertama, dia cerita soal kehidupan sosial yang sibuk, tapi dia merasa kosong.

Misalnya, meskipun lagi di tengah pesta, dia merasa tertekan dan ingin kabur.

Ada juga rasa takut nggak bisa nanggung hidup sendirian, meskipun banyak orang yang kasih perhatian.

Tapi dia jujur aja, dia udah ngalamin banyak banget hal yang bikin mentalnya lelah 😟.

Lalu, di pre-chorus, dia mulai jujur soal perasaannya.

Dia nggak bisa lagi pura-pura bahagia atau baik-baik aja, karena dia udah lelah banget dengan semua yang terjadi.

Dia nggak bisa terus-terusan pakai senyum palsu, karena kenyataannya dia nggak merasa baik-baik aja.

Liriknya “I can’t fake another smile” jadi semacam deklarasi buat berhenti pura-pura 😞.

Akhirnya, bagian chorus dengan tegas bilang “fuck a fake smile”, yang nunjukin dia udah capek banget sama kebohongan dan pengen hidup dengan kejujuran.

Kalau dia lagi sakit, marah, atau nggak baik-baik aja, dia bakal tunjukin itu tanpa takut dihakimi.
